Under DRUM, a series of 8 two-day training programs will be held on 'Regulatory & Policy Framework for Market Development for Renewable Energy' for the State Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (SERC) officers, Power Distribution Utility Managers, officers of Energy Development Agencies (EDA) and financial analysts in Financial Institutions (FI) like PFC, REC. The objective is to held the audience understand the policy frameworks, financial structuring and risk management instruments germane to the sphere of Renewable Energy sector in India. The programs will be conducted by the World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE), Pune (www.wisein.org). This training is part of the Market Development for Renewable Energy (MDRE) activities initiated under Asia-Pacific Partnership (APP) program by USAID.
The first program was held at the India International Center, New Delhi from July 23 - 24, 2008. Click her for the program agenda.

- Climate Change and its impacts
- The global transition in the energy sector and the phenomenal growth of investment in Renewable Energy
- Global policies and financial mechanism driving the growth of the RE sector
- Evolution of the Renewable Energy Policy in India; Current status and way forward
- Innovative Policy and Market Instruments like PTC, TRECs, etc.
- Evolution of Renewable Energy Regulatory framework in India: current status and way forward
- Techno-economic analysis of various Renewable Energy Technologies
- Tariff and RPS fixation for Renewable Energy(RE) Electricity; other regulatory issues related to RE
- Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Carbon Credits
- Appraisal of Investment proposals in RE
- Externalities of Conventional Power Generation
- Success Stories of RE Power in India and abroad
- Technology Risk Assessment in RE
