15- months Executive P.G. Diploma in Business Management (EPGDBM): Energy Management with specialization in Power Distribution, offered for the first time by School of Energy Management, MDI in collaboration with Ministry of Power, Government of India and USAID under Distribution Reform, Upgrades and Management (DRUM) Project
After over a decade of sustained and intensive effort, the process of reforming the power distribution system in the country has reached a crucial stage of development. Most stakeholders are not only in agreement about the contours of change that the power distribution system must undergo, but are also expecting an acceleration of the process. However, the success of this entire process will depend on our ability to build a cadre of young managers who can provide the necessary commitment and infuse energy into the distribution management system. We shall need substantial numbers of dedicated professionals who are driven by the need to set high performance standards; who have the ability to design, develop, and institute improved systems and processes; who bring to their work an understanding of markets and market mechanisms; who have the courage to take personal risks and lead change; and who have the capacity to not only sustain their own motivation but to motivate others working with them.
In order to create pool of talent, the Ministry of Power, in collaboration with USAID, under DRUM project, has developed the Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (EPGDBM): Energy Management with specialization in Power Distribution. The purpose of the program is to select, train, and develop the best talent available in our power distribution units so that we can meet the challenge of developing and managing our distribution systems in a manner that is second to none in the world.
Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, has been selected to launch a 15-month Executive PGDBM in Energy Management with specialization in Power Distribution for working executives in power utilities, in collaboration with Ministry of Power, Government of India and USAID. The programme will have 12 months of classroom training in MDI complex at Gurgaon and another 3 months for project works, which each individual will develop at his / her own workplace.
